Hotel Julian

The Hotel Julian, named after the patron saints of travelers, is the renovation of the historic Atlantic Bank building originally designed by Benjamin Marshall, into a luxury lifestyle hotel. Located diagonally across Michigan Avenue from Millennium Park, an additional five floors are being added to create 218 guest rooms and a first-floor restaurant. The design restores the building’s historic terra-cotta façade and seamlessly integrates it with modern design elements. The five-story addition on top of the existing structure is clad in a faceted glass curtain wall which is brought down through the terra-cotta faced to the base of the building. The first-floor façade is clad with a folding glass wall set within terra-cotta portals, opening up the Workshop / APD designed restaurant and lobby to Michigan Avenue and an outdoor dining area. The interiors of the hotel rooms have been designed by the Getty’s Group, providing modern yet elegant accommodations. A second entrance, located on Garland Court, leads to the building’s contemporary lobby and allows easy drop-off and pick-up for hotel guests. The GC is W.E. O’Neil and Development Manager is Daccord. The Hotel Julian is expected to open in October 2018.
